The Wall has been broken down
On Oktober 27th
2012 Friends of Sabeel Netherlands and Kairos Palestine Netherlands presented at a mini-symposium the brochure The Wall has been broken down.
This brochure, written by the Reverend Henri Veldhuis (Culemborg, the Netherlands), offers an impuls to rethink theologically and politically the Middle East conflict, based on the conviction that - speaking with Paul - 'the wall has been broken down' (Ef. 2.14), and that universal love and justice are the basic principle of all ethics and all politics.
This principle leads us in this brochure to the conclusion that human rights and international law should also serve for Christians and all churches as the primary, normative framework for their political actions.
The brochure (40 pp.) is aimed at all who want to reflect on the theological and political questions concerning the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The brochure is perfect to initiate dialogue about this subject in churches, political parties and other circles.
The author, Reverend Heneri Veldhuis, is a protestant minister in Culemborg (the Netherlands) and boardmember of The Rights Forum
The English translation of this brochure is published on the occasion of the farewell of Meta Floor as staff member of Sabeel Jerusalem. Meta Floor, who has worked there since 2007 on behalf of the Protestant Church of the Netherlands, has contributed much to the awareness in the Netherlands - especially among Dutch Christians - of the difficult situation, the hope and resilience of the Palestinian people. We owe the publication of this brochure to a large extent to the continuing influence in the Netherlands of Meta’s inspiring work.
